Tropical Montane Forests
Moist evergreen forests wrapped in fog, dense with moss, orchids and ferns.
These forests occur in the tropics and subtropics, usually between about 1,000 m and 3,000 m, and are frequently shrouded in fog at canopy level. The constant moisture supports dense growths of moss, epiphytic orchids, ferns and liverworts. The East African montane forests of Kilimanjaro and Meru are typical examples.
